What to begin planning now

Current planning anticipates:

• Restricted campus access: The campus is expected to be closed for the games with access restricted to mandatory employees working on the games and game attendees. More information will be shared about who is considered mandatory in the months ahead.
• Changes to work arrangements: It is expected that non-mandatory employees will be offered remote work during the games. Human Resources is working to determine alternative arrangements for employees who are unable to work remotely.
• Changes to academic calendar: The summer academic calendar has been adjusted. Research that requires access to campus spaces will need to pause during the designated games period, with limited exceptions for approved research needs.
• Changes to student housing and services: Most residence halls are expected to house athletes and games personnel. Campus services will be extremely limited during the games.
• Traffic and transportation impacts: Roads, campus entrances, parking requirements and transit services will be affected. Details will be provided as plans are finalized.

Faculty, staff and students should:

• Review the adjusted academic calendar when planning courses, travel and other summer activities.
• Identify work materials and equipment that may be needed during the restricted period. Employees should plan to retrieve those items before campus access becomes restricted.
• Identify research that requires campus access and begin discussing alternative plans with department heads and deans.
• Review unit continuity plans for research requiring daily monitoring, animal care, hazardous materials or access to specialized equipment.
